Sea Reminiscence

2024


Imagining a world where humans continued to build endless concrete along the shore- they eventually created a wall that separated them from the ocean. Losing the connection with the source that nurtured life at the beginning of time, they began to reminisce about the blue waters they once knew.

This project was inspired by the wavebreakers I saw during my last visit to Taiwan. More than half of the beautiful shoreline where I spent countless summers, is now covered with artificial concrete walls. Facing the fear of erosion and losing our land, we have chosen the easiest shortcut to the problem and ignored the negative circumstances of building these structures. Sea Reminiscence raises awareness of the coastal environmental issues we encounter. Growing up surrounded by some of the most beautiful beaches, I wish that they do not become memories of our generation.
