In Praise of Shadows

2022


In collaboration with Nottingham-based charity Emmanuel House, this project aims to create a human-centred design for the homeless. Drawing inspiration from Tanizaki’s book together with the unseen social issues that remain in the shadows, this project delivers a positive message: through the praise of shadows, there is comfort and serenity that lie within.

This coat emphasises interchangeability and functionality, including detachable panels, deep pockets, and a hidden pocket in the collar. The piece was made responsibly with 100% upcycled materials, and donated to Emmanuel House.
